Tools on the View menu for controlling on-screen display

Controlling on-screen display

This section shows some of the tools on the View menu you can use to control how your model is displayed in a viewport.

Note: Look in the Allplan help for information on the other tools on the View menu.

Tool

Use

Zoom All

Zoom All sets the display scale so that you can see all the elements in the visible files.

Note: But if you have loaded a view using Save, Load View, Allplan displays only this view.

Zoom Section

Zoom Section zooms in on a section. To do this, press and hold down the left mouse button and enclose the elements you want to zoom in a selection rectangle.

Pan

Pan pans the section that is visible in the current viewport by a vector you specify. To enter this vector, press and hold down the left mouse and then drag. You can also pan in the current viewport using the middle mouse button and the cursor keys.

Refresh

Refresh regenerates the section that is visible on screen. Press ESC to cancel the process.

Reduce View

Reduce View reduces the scale of the current view in incremental steps (the display scale doubles), thus enlarging the section displayed on screen.

Enlarge View

Enlarge View enlarges the scale of the current view in incremental steps (the display scale halves), thus reducing the section displayed on screen.

Pan

Point to Pan to open a submenu with tools you can use to pan in incremental steps:
Scroll Left
Scroll Right
Scroll Up
Scroll Down

View

Point to View to open a submenu with tools you can use to change the view of your model:

The tools are the same as those on the Standard views flyout. In addition, you can find the 3D View tool.

Navigation Mode

Navigation Mode enables the navigation mode in the current viewport. In this mode, you can use the mouse to view a 3D model.

Note: in navigation mode, you can navigate in sphere mode or in camera mode (keep the CTRL key pressed down).

Previous View

Previous View restores the previous view or display scale set (provided you had selected a different view or scale before you selected the current setting).

Next View

Next View restores the next view or display scale set (provided you have already selected a subsequent view or scale).

Save, Load View

Using Save, Load View, you save the current view under a name of your choice or retrieve a view you saved beforehand.

Element Selection

Using Element Selection, you select the design entities you want to display in the current viewport. The program temporarily hides all the other design entities.

View Type

By pointing to View Type, you open a submenu where you can select one of the predefined view types (Wireframe, Hidden, Animation, Sketch or RTRender) for the current viewport. Of course, you can also select a view type you defined yourself.

When you are working in the layout editor ( Layout Editor is pressed in), you can switch between Design view and Print view (= preview of resulting printout).

Reference Scale

The Reference Scale indicates the scale in which the object will be printed.

The reference scale governs the true proportions of fixed parameters (such as, the character height, dimension lines, patterns, hatching ...) relative to the object displayed on the screen.

Show/Hide

You can use the Show/Hide tool to control how and which elements are displayed on screen. For example, you can choose to exclude individual groups of elements from view in the interests of faster refresh speeds.

Select, Set Layers

Layers provide an additional means of structuring design entities within drawing files. You can display exactly the information you need just by switching the relevant layers on and off (see "Working with layers").

Using Select, Set Layers, you carry out all the required layer administration tasks.

Layer Status

Using Layer Status, you open a submenu with tools you can use to control the visibility of layers.(see "Working with layers").

Activate Section

Using the Activate Section tool or the Section Display list box, you can display your design in an architectural section (provided you defined its Clipping Path beforehand).

Rotated Plan View

Using Rotated Plan View, you can turn the screen contents about their center point. This tool turns only the display; it has no effect on the coordinates. You can use this tool only in conjunction with plan view in the current viewport.

If you enter a positive angle, Allplan will turn the display in a counter-clockwise direction. To restore the original display, select this tool again and set the angle back to 0 degrees.

Note: You can find more tools for controlling the on-screen display on the Window menu, viewport toolbar and shortcut menu (only in navigation mode).
