1. Create a new cross section
Follow the instructions in Project navigation window/Cross sections.
2. Define the cross section
Read the introduction in Actionbar/Cross section.
2.1 Create the parametric lines required for the cross section
Read the introduction in Actionbar/Cross section/Parametric Lines/Points.
Use the different tools explained in the submenus of Parametric Lines/Points to draw the parametric lines.
When using variable lines, take care of the dependencies of the parametric lines among each other (see explanations in the introduction mentioned above).
2.2 Create boundaries on the basis of the parametric lines.
Read the introduction in Actionbar/Boundaries.
For drawing boundaries use the tool Boundary.
If required, use special tools for rounding or editing boundaries as described in the submenus of Boundaries.
2.3 Define the structural units of the boundaries
Read the introduction in Actionbar/Cross section/Structural Units and define the structural units of the type beam and if applicable the structural units of the type composite.
2.4 Define reference points in the cross section to connect piers (and to define supports).
Follow the instructions in Actionbar/Cross section/Reference Points for the geometric definition of the connection of the piers. The definition of the geometric positions of supports is only required for generating an analysis model.
2.5 Define variable parametric lines in the cross section
2.5.1 Create new variables
Follow the instructions in Project navigation window/Cross sections/Create variables.
2.5.2 Assign the variables to the parametric lines
Follow the instructions in Actionbar/Cross section/Variables.
