Structural unit - Beam

Index

Assign a boundary area, i.e. a cross section or part of a cross section, to a structural unit of the type beam

The elements set up by these cross sections are used as 3D-bodies for modeling and as beams for the static calculation.

The position of the structural unit within the cross section defines the structural node of the element series for the static model and has only relevance for these purposes, but it has no relevance for the geometrical model.

Usually structural units for girder cross sections are defined in the middle of the upper cross section edge and for pier cross sections in the center.

To assign a structural unit of the type beam to a boundary

  1. Click Structural unit - Beam.
  2. Click the intersection point of two lines or the parametric point, at which you want to position the structural unit.
  3. Click the boundary, which you want to assign to this structural unit.
  4. Directly add further structural units of the type beam (back to 2.) or quit the tool with ESC.
