Layout and project attributes

Module(s): Layout

You can use the Layout and Project Attributes tool to define and manage layout and project attributes of the current project.

You can also open the Layout Attributes dialog box using the Open on a project-specific basis: layouts or the Allplan Exchange dialog box.

To define and manage layout and project attributes

  1. Click Layout and Project Attributes (How).

The Layout Attributes dialog box opens.

  2. Specify how the layout structure is displayed in the area on the left. Proceed as you would with the Allplan Exchange Layout Distribution tool.
  3. Select the layouts for which you want to define or change layout attributes.

Note: Regardless of the structural level that is active, layouts and linked layouts are always selected together. When you select a linked layout, the layout to which the link relates is automatically selected and vice versa.

The selected layouts and their current attributes are displayed in the Layout attributes table in the area on the right.

  4. In a workgroup environment, it is a good idea to lock the layout whose attributes you want to define or edit so that it cannot be accessed by other users. To do this, click Lock Layout.

The symbol changes to Layout is locked.

Note: A layout that is marked with the Layout is locked by another user symbol cannot be edited at the moment. You have to wait until the user in question releases the layout.

  5. Assign or change the required layout attributes. Use the options provided by the Layout attributes table (see "Working with the Layout attributes table").

Tip: You can add custom entries to the predefined properties of the Layout format, Layout type, Display mode, Scale and Hierarchic code attributes (see "Adding custom properties to predefined attributes"). To define additional custom attributes, proceed as described in "Defining your own attributes".

  6. To create, edit or delete a layout index for a layout, display the Index attributes table by clicking Show index table (toolbar at the top).

You can find the Index attributes table below the Layout attributes table in the area on the right.

  7. Create a new layout index and assign index attributes (see "Creating a new layout index" and "Defining and managing layout index attributes"). To remove an existing layout index, proceed as described in "Deleting a layout index".
  8. To define and manage project attributes, click Project attributes at bottom left in the border of the Layout Attributes dialog box.

The Project Attributes dialog box is displayed.

Note: All the attributes that are available throughout the office are displayed in the column on the left.

  9. Enter values for the attributes in the individual groups.

All you need to do is click in the column on the right.

  10. When you have defined all the necessary layout and project attributes, click OK to confirm the dialog boxes.
