Tables
Using tables, you can enter and check parameters quickly and easily.
A table usually forms a group with its own heading within a tab. When you click the first line of the group, the program displays the
and
icons which take you through the columns of the table directly in the palette and the
icon which opens the table.
Note: If the table consists of a single column, the first line of the group is not displayed.
There are also tables which you can open as subordinate dialog boxes by clicking
. These tables do not provide any icons that take you from column to column. These tables may also be subordinate to other tables.
Working with tables
- You can find the parameter overview on the left.
- The data entry boxes for the currently selected column(s) are displayed on the right.
- To change a parameter value, select one or more cells (CTRL+CLICK or press and hold down the right mouse button and open a selection rectangle) in the same line. When you have selected several cells, the data entry box only displays a value or text if the parameter values of the selected cells are identical. Otherwise, the box is empty.
If the program expects you to enter a figure or text, you can enter the new value or text directly at the keyboard without having to click the corresponding box on the right side of the table. Press ENTER to select and clear check boxes. Here, too, you can press ENTER without having to click the box first.
Only if you enter data in a
selection dialog box or in a subordinate
dialog box do you need to click the icon in the corresponding data entry box on the right side of the table to open the selection or subordinate dialog box. - The TAB key takes you to the next parameter line.
- To finish entering data in the table, you can confirm the entries by clicking OK or discard the new values by clicking Cancel.
- After you have closed the table, the parameters you have changed are applied to the object and the object is updated. So it always makes sense to open the table if you want to change several values, as all the values are updated at once.
But if you want to change only one value, you will find that the quickest way is to use the icons that take you through the columns of the table in the palette. Here, the object is updated as soon as you have defined the new value.
