Defining and managing layout attributes

Sending layouts and other files using Allplan Exchange (how to) / Using attributes

To define and manage attributes for the layouts

  1. Open Allplan Exchange dialog box (How).
  2. Click Layout and project attributes (at bottom left in the viewport border).

The Layout Attributes dialog box opens.

  3. Select the layouts for which you want to define or change layout attributes.

The program automatically selects the layouts you have already selected in the Allplan Exchange dialog box Allplan Exchange dialog box. You can customize this selection for your needs in the Layout structure area on the left.

Note: Regardless of the structural level that is active, layouts and linked layouts are always selected together. When you select a linked layout, the layout to which the link relates is automatically selected and vice versa.

The selected layouts and their current attributes are displayed in the Layout attributes table in the area on the right.

  4. Please note the following when you are working in a workgroup environment:
Lock the layout whose attributes you want to define or edit so that it cannot be accessed by other users. To do this, click Lock Layout.

The symbol changes to Layout is locked.

Note: A layout that is marked with the Layout is locked by another user symbol cannot be edited at the moment. You have to wait until the user in question releases the layout.

  5. Assign or change the required layout attributes. Use the options provided by the Layout attributes table (see "Working with the Layout attributes table").

Tip: You can add custom entries to the predefined properties of the Layout format, Layout type, Display mode, Scale and Hierarchic code attributes (see "Adding custom properties to predefined layout attributes"). To define additional custom attributes, proceed as described in "Defining your own layout attributes".

  6. To create or edit a layout index for a layout, display the Index attributes table by clicking Show index table (toolbar at the top).

You can find the Index attributes table below the Layout attributes table in the area on the right.

  7. Create a new layout index and assign index attributes (see "Creating a new layout index" and "Defining and managing layout index attributes").
  8. When you have defined all layout and index attributes, click OK.
  9. The following only applies when you have changed the layout selection in the Layout structure area on the left:
The Import changes dialog box opens. Specify whether you want to transfer the layout structure you have changed in the Layout Attributes dialog box to Allplan Exchange dialog box.

You are back in Allplan Exchange dialog box.
