Design, connections

Tool(s): Design

You can define how walls are connected as well as specify how walls are divided in areas adjacent to columns. When you have selected Wall panel for the design mode, you also have the option of defining wall-column connections based on grooves.

To define wall connections and divisions

  1. On the Context toolbar, click Connections. This enables the tools for defining connections.
  2. Click Properties to define the connection options.
  3. In the Input options, specify whether all the selected walls are Automatically connected and, if necessary, divided near columns. You can also select walls Manually.
  4. When set to Create connections automatically, select the appropriate wall and columns and confirm by clicking OK. You can also click in the workspace with the right mouse button.

The program applies standard connections to the selected walls in the current drawing file.

  5. When set to Create connections manually, a search area is displayed at the crosshairs. Select the walls and if necessary columns on the screen in such a way that there is a connection for the walls in question in the search area.

The Context toolbar opens a text box that lists the applicable connection options for the selected walls.

  6. Change the connection option by clicking the Previous / Next Option arrow keys. The program changes the walls immediately.
  7. You can also click the Name of Connection button. This opens a list in which you can access a connection type directly.
  8. Click with the right mouse button in the workspace or click OK to confirm your selection.

Note:
This tool also allows you to place joints within walls manually. This can be used to alter the way the walls are automatically divided.

To define special connections for wall panels

  1. On the Connections Context toolbar, click Wall-Column Connection through Groove.
  2. Click the Select symbol for wall-column connection button and choose an appropriate symbol in the Get Symbol dialog box.
  3. In the Input options, specify whether the connections are created Automatically or Manually.
  4. When set to Create connections automatically, select the appropriate wall and columns and confirm by clicking OK. You can also click in the workspace with the right mouse button.
  5. When set to Create connections manually, a search area is displayed at the crosshairs. Select the wall and column on the screen in such a way that there is a connection for the components in question in the search area.
  6. Click the desired lines where the wall and column meet and confirm by clicking in the workspace with the right mouse.
