Manual wall joints
Tool(s): Design, Connections
Placing joints manually within walls allows you to influence the automatic division of the walls into elements. You could make it so that the manually placed joint in the wall allows the use of a different type of formwork than the automatically arranged joints would have done.
To place wall joints manually
- On the context toolbar, click
Connections. This enables the tools for defining connections. - Click Manu (manual) in the Input options.
- Click the relevant wall.
- Click the point in the wall where you want to create a wall joint.
You can see the joint. Joints created manually created are shown in magenta, whilst the automatic joints are green.
- For concrete walls and wall panels, click the Name of Connection button to select the formwork type you require in the list box or use the Previous / Next Option arrow keys.
- Click with the right mouse button in the workspace or click OK to confirm.
Notes:
- Joints placed manually can be moved within the wall using the Move tool (Edit toolbar). However, you cannot edit connections placed manually using the Connections tool.
- If there are columns within the wall, you need to divide the wall near the columns using the
Delete Section of Linear Component tool to ensure that the wall joints you place manually are created correctly.
