Slab/roof element design, parameters

Tool(s): Design + Design (special) + Modify Design

Thickness of slab

Total slab thickness including on site in-situ concrete.

Thickness of panel

Thickness of the panel.

Concrete cover (bottom/top/lateral)

Concrete cover of reinforcement at bottom for half floor, BubbleDeck, Cobiax slab and brick slab; concrete cover of reinforcement at bottom and top for other slab types. Lateral concrete cover can be defined for BubbleDeck and Cobiax slab only.

Concrete grade (precast element/in-situ concrete)

Select a concrete grade in the catalog.
If you calculate elements with different concrete grades for the precast element and the in-situ concrete, the porgram always uses the poorer grade for any calculation in compliance with the regulations.

Exposure class

Enter the appropriate exposure class.
You need to include the exposure class in reinforcement drawings according to DIN 1045-1, section 4.2.1 (3). Cement formulation, minimum concrete cover and minimum concrete strength grade depend on the exposure class.

Surface property

Only available for half floor, half floor with filling object, BubbleDeck and Cobiax slab.

Select the surface property of the element panel in the list box. The program proposes this setting for calculating lateral force and bond.

Fire resistance classification

Only available for BubbleDeck and Cobiax slab.

Select the fire resistance classification in the catalog.

Floor structure (g)

Load on floor structure in [kN/m2].

Attention: the deadweight of the slab is added automatically!

Live load (p)

Imposed load in [kN/m2].

If you have selected a EuroCode standard (e.g. DIN 1045-1, EC2, OEN-B4700) in the basic parameters, you can choose between the following imposed loads:

You must define the imposed load for structural calculations, which differ depending on the factor that is included in order to account for the imposed load.

Snow load (s)

Snow load in [kN/m2].

Structural analysis mark

Name for structural calculations.

Girder type

Select a beam type in the catalog.

Shortening longit. dm [%]

The program shortens longitudinal bars of the second or third diameter by the value set (as a percentage of the panel length).

Special production type

Not implemented.

Bottom side

Only available for hollow core element and concrete slab.

Normally, the side of a concrete slab to which formwork is applied is the lower side; in other words, the bottom of the slab is smooth. However, when designing balcony slabs, for example, you may find that it is necessary for the upper side to be smooth. If you clear this check box, the program will "turn" the element for production. Consequently, all the data (e.g. reinforcement) are inverted and then transferred to production (process control computer). Depending on the type (e.g. slab elements or balcony units), this button is initialized automatically.

Additional attributes

You can select this button only if you defined entries in the configurations beforehand. Click the Name button to select an attribute or cancel its selection You can change the data entry box by defining defaults in the configurations.

The program analyzes the attributes as follows:

Note: The first attribute is predefined for prestressed hollow core elements. The program labels the panels with the text you entered for the selected attribute. This way, you can specify whether or not there are drainage holes in the panels.
