Modifying design

Module(s): Precast Wall

Owing to the wide range of parameters available for the factory configurations, catalogs and the parameters currently set by the user during the process of element design or modification and the current geometry of the element (outline or recesses), it can happen that bars or lattice girders of the basic reinforcement are not created and, consequently, individual parts of the element (e.g. corners with acute angles, narrow webs between recesses or between recesses and the edges) are not reinforced. The program does not check that all the bars and lattice girders are actually created.

That is why you need to spend some time thinking about how to handle non-rectangular element outlines and recesses. These considerations can be described as "engineering thinking". This is exactly the reason why working with the Precast modules requires some experience. In particular, you should not create production data without checking the reinforcement beforehand.

You can select a precast wall for modification. You can make modifications using all the options available when you designed precast walls using the Design tool.

To modify a wall

• Click Modify Design (How).
  Basically, this tool consists of four functions you can select on the context toolbar:
  

  Activate Modify Design in one of the following ways

  • Menu bar: Modify Precast Precast Wall

  • Palette: Tools Change area in the following module(s):

  Precast Wall

  • Click Design Mode to modify the parameters of precast walls.
  • Click Visible Side to change the visible side of the wall, if necessary.
  • Click Connections to modify the required joint arrangements of the wall elements.
  • Click Divisions to modify the divisions of precast walls.
    

Notes:

• You can use the Modify Parameters, Basic Reinforcement tool to modify the general wall properties (e.g. surface properties, concrete grade, thickness etc.) of individual wall elements. In addition, you can change the reinforcement parameters and the element parameters of the elements.
• You can use the Modify Wall in View tool to modify the geometry and surface of individual wall panels, edit concrete strips, corbels and horizontal sections as well as add facing elements.
• To modify a wall, you can also double-left-click the triangle symbol indicating the viewing direction or you can open the shortcut menu of the triangle symbol and select Properties. In this case, the last function you selected is automatically set for the selected design.
