Placing fixture, fixture group, dynamic group fixture
Tool(s): Fixture
After you have selected a fixture, answer the questions about the element and confirm the dialog box.
The manner in which you define the exact position of a fixture depends on where you place it: in an architectural slab or wall, in views or sections or in a 3D object.
To place a symbol fixture, a fixture group or a dynamic group fixture
- Use the tools in the Input options to place the fixture, fixture group or dynamic group fixture.
- The procedure for defining the drop-in point varies depending on the component type:
- In the case of an architectural slab or wall, specify the drop-in point by entering coordinates in plan view and enter the depth values of the fixture, fixture group or dynamic group fixture within the component.
Notes: When placing 3D fixtures, you can also define the drop-in point in an isometric view.
For walls, you can enter an offset to any reference point.
If the drop-in point of the fixture is not within the architectural component, the system does not prompt for the depth values. - In the case of views and sections or when you are working in the window of the Edit Element tool, define the drop-in point by entering coordinates within a view of the component and click an additional point in a reference view to define the missing coordinates.
- You can define the drop-in point by entering coordinates in an isometric view for all the other 3D objects.
- Adjust the geometry of the dynamic group fixture.
To place a linear or surface fixture
- The procedure for defining the position varies depending on the component type:
- In the case of an architectural slab or wall, use the polyline input tools to define the position of the fixture in plan view or use the additional options for entering precast elements. After this, specify the layer depths of the fixture within the component.
Note: If the start point of the fixture is not within the architectural component, the system does not prompt for the depth values. - In the case of views and sections or when you are working in the window of the Edit Element tool, define the position of the fixture within a view of the component using the polyline input tools or the additional options for entering precast elements. To define the missing coordinates, click another point in a reference view.
- You can use the polyline entry tools to define the position of the fixture in plan view for all the other 3D objects.
