Smart Symbol Definition + Modify Smart Symbol

You can open the shortcut menu in the Foils area and in the Foils tab of the preview. Depending on where you click, the shortcut menu provides a selection of the following options:

Define the next foil

You can define more foils for the smart symbol. Select the relevant elements in the workspace, specify the reference point and define the smart symbol’s display parameters (analogous to Define new foil button).

Note: It may be necessary to adjust the From scale and To scale settings of the existing foils.

Create a new foil folder

This option is only available when more than one foil is selected.
You can use this option to create a superordinate Smart symbol group folder with the selected foils.
You can drag more foils to the folder or change the sequence of the foils.

Delete (name of foil folder)

You can break up the foil folder for which you activate the shortcut menu. The foils retain their names.

Delete selected folders

This option is only available when you have selected several foil folders (at least two folders).
You can break up the selected foil folders for which you activate the shortcut menu. The foils retain their names.

Delete smart symbol foil (n)

You can delete the smart symbol foil for which you have activated the shortcut menu.

Note: If necessary, adjust the From scale and To scale settings of the remaining foils.

Delete selected foils

This option is only available when more than one foil is selected.
You can delete all the selected foils for which you activate the shortcut menu.

Rename smart symbol foil (n)

You can rename the smart symbol foil for which you have activated the shortcut menu.

Modify design entities in smart symbol foil (n)

You can modify the geometric elements of the smart symbol foil for which you have activated the shortcut menu.

This option only shows the selected foil. The "Modify design entities in smart symbol foil (n) with foils in background" option also displays the foils of the reference scale or drawing type currently set in a brightened color in the background. Although the system snaps to elements in the background, any changes you make only apply to the elements of the active foil.

You can modify the geometry and format properties of the foil in the workspace. Press ESC to open the Modify Smart Symbol dialog box again; the changes you have made to the foils are displayed in the dialog box.

You can modify the setting for which you have activated the shortcut menu.

Show more smart symbol foils

The Modify Smart Symbol dialog box closes temporarily. Now you can select another smart symbol placed in the document in order to copy foils to the smart symbol selected first, or you can check the effect of the changes you have already made.

Copy smart symbol foil to ...

Note: This option is only available when you have selected another smart symbol in the workspace using Show more smart symbol foils (see above) and transferred it to the Modify Smart Symbol dialog box.

You can copy the foil for which you have activated the shortcut menu to another smart symbol you have already transferred to the Modify Smart Symbol dialog box. The dialog box closes so that you can enter the Reference point, Scale range, MinMax point 1 and 2 and Resizing factor. The approach is the same as for defining the smart symbol's display parameters when you enter smart symbols. The selected foil is copied to the smart symbol and added as the last foil.

Note: It may be necessary to adjust the From scale and To scale settings of the existing foils.

Hide smart symbol

You can hide a smart symbol you have loaded using Show smart symbol.

Convert smart window, door symbol to custom smart symbol

You can convert smart symbols you have created using Smart Window and Door Symbols to custom smart symbols.
