Modify Design + Modify Wall Precess
You can specify the opening parameters using the Layer adjustments, concrete strips, Reinforcement of openings and Insulation tabs. The parameters that are actually available to you depend on the settings you define as you go along.
Layer adjustments, concrete strips tab
Layer adjustment for openings
Layer
This line is only displayed if the selected wall consists of several construction layers. Use and
to specify the relevant layer or click
to open the table where you can define the adjustment of layers in the areas around openings.
Layer adjustment / Lateral
To specify that layers are to be adjusted in the areas of openings, select the Layer adjustment option and click to define the Lateral parameter. The table opens. Specify the side by selecting the corresponding Create parameter and enter a Value. A positive value lengthens the relevant layer; a negative value shortens it.
Concrete strip openings
This area is only available for sandwich walls, thermal walls and n-layer walls with concrete layers.
Layer
Use and
to specify the relevant layer or click
to open the table where you can define the generation of concrete strips in the areas around openings.
Concrete strips / Lateral / Depth
To create concrete strips in the areas around openings, select the Concrete strips option, enter a value for the Depth (parallel to wall thickness) and click to define the Lateral parameter. The table opens. Specify the side by selecting the corresponding Create parameter and enter a value for the Width.
Limit values for openings
Layer adjustment / Concrete strip
Click for the parameter you want to use and enter the minimum values for the Opening width, Opening height and Opening area. As soon as one of these values is reached or exceeded, the program adjusts the layers or generates the concrete strips.
'Reinforcement of openings' tab
You can specify the parameters for reinforcement for trimming in the areas around openings. You can only use the palette and table to make entries for the reinforcement units of which you have already defined the reinforcement.
Reinforcement of openings
First you need to specify whether you want to create a Replacement without or with stirrups. The settings that are subsequently available to you depend on the Reinforcement type you select here.
Replacement without stirrups
or
Basic reinforcement parameters
Reinforcement unit
Use and
to specify the relevant reinforcement unit or click
to open the table where you can define the parameters of the reinforcement units.
This parameter is not displayed if you have defined the reinforcement for a single reinforcement unit only.
Lateral concrete cover
Define the concrete cover of the basic reinforcement bars for the opening. Measurements are always perpendicular to the relevant edge. Select one of the proposed values or enter a different value.
As with the wall itself, you cannot specify different lateral concrete covers for the individual opening sides.
Note: When you specify a negative bar overlap, the program always checks whether the value set for the bar overlap or the lateral concrete cover is applicable.
Bar overlap, lateral bending shapes
You can define the Bar overlap and the Bending shape for the top, bottom, left and right opening edges. Click to open the table.
A negative value for the bar overlap shortens the bar; a positive value lengthens it in the direction of the bar axis. Please note that this value and the value for the Lateral concrete cover are mutually dependent.
Click to specify the bending shape. The top part of the dialog box displays the individual bending shapes. Select the one you want to use and set its attributes as required. The values are explained graphically n the middle part of the dialog box. For more information on the individual values, read the description of default parameters. You can add a variable to some basic values. For example:
d = wall thickness
e = bar overlap as entered
In addition, you can add an end hook to each bending shape. Select the check box and enter the Length and Angle of the hook.
Replace reinforcement
When you have selected the Replacement without stirrups reinforcement type, you can now specify whether and how the cut reinforcement is to be replaced. You can choose between No, Automatic and Structural.
Cut longitudinal bars / cross bars / lattice girders / additional reinforcement
You can specify whether these reinforcement elements are cut in the areas of openings or whether they pass through the openings.
Replacement with stirrups
Layer
This parameter is only available for sandwich walls. You can use it to define the parameters leaf by leaf.
Use and
to specify the relevant layer or click
to open the table where you can define the parameters.
Create replacement
When you select the Create replacement option, reinforcement for trimming is created for openings. You can define the parameters for longitudinal bars and stirrups separately for horizontal and vertical edges. To do this, click in the relevant line.
Enter the relevant limit for the offset of the opening to the edge in the unit of length set. If the edge offset of the opening exceeds the value specified, only longitudinal bars are created at the opening.
Insulation tab
This tab is only available for wall types with insulating layers. You can specify the parameters for the creation of insulating strips (provided you have the appropriate license).
Insulating strips at openings
Start by specifying whether you want to Create insulating strips. The other parameters are only displayed when you select this option.
Material
Specify the Material you want to use. You can only select materials for which the Define dimensions check box has not been selected in the Insulation Material Catalog.
Lateral
Click to open the table. Specify the side by selecting the corresponding Create parameter and enter a Value. Negative values are not taken into account.
Limit values for openings
Limit values
Click and enter the minimum values for the Opening width, Opening height and Opening area. As soon as one of these values is reached or exceeded, the program creates insulating strips around the opening.
Insulating strip follows outline of opening
Select this option if you want the insulating strip to follow the opening outline at the width specified. If this option is not selected, a rectangular insulation area is created. The program determines the opening's min-max box and enlarges it by the values set for the insulating strips. This setting may be useful in conjunction with round or polygonal openings that cannot be processed by the saw that is used to cut the insulating material.
