Slice

Module(s): 3D Modeling

You can use the Slice tool to slice 3D solids, 3D lines, 3D arcs and 3D splines using a plane. You can use an existing 3D surface as the plane or a plane you defined with Custom Planes.

Tip: You can also use this tool to slice timber and steel components from the Frame Construction module.

To slice solids using a plane

1. Click Slice (How).
   

   Activate Slice in one of the following ways

   • Menu bar: Create Bonus Tools 3D Modeling

   • Palette: Tools Create area in the following module(s):

   3D Modeling

   • Configuration: Design Boolean Solids flyout
2. Select the 3D element you want to slice.
3. To define the slicing plane, do the following:

   Click Select surface in the Input Options.

   • Click the slicing plane or 3D surface.

   Or

   Click Select edges or points in the Input Options.

   • Enter three points for the plane or 3D surface.
   • Enter an edge and a point for the slicing plane in isometric view.

     

     (1) Solid to be sliced using a plane
     (2) Edge of slicing plane
     (3) Point of slicing plane (a 3D surface in this example)
