You can use Import to import a large number of different tile types into Allplan (see Formats for exchanging data with Allplan). The transfer process can be optimized by making detailed configuration and assignment settings.

Tip: You can also import files into Allplan by dragging and dropping them from Windows Explorer. For more information see Importing using drag-and-drop operations.

To import external data

  1. Click Import (How).
  2. Specify the file type and folder with the file(s) to be imported.

Note: Click Preview to display the selected file in a separate preview window.

  3. Select a favorite for exchange and a configuration file near the bottom of the dialog box.
  4. Click Options... to change the configuration settings (e.g., scale and unit of length).
  5. Click Open.

    Allplan starts the automatic assignment.

  6. When all the assignments are complete, a dialog box appears, in which you can still alter the assignments and save the configuration settings to a file.
If the assignments are incomplete, the Configuration for Conversion dialog box appears. You can make assignments in this dialog box.
For more information, see Making manual assignment.

Note: If automatic assignment detects elements that are far from the Allplan global point, you can see the Adjust coordinates section in the dialog box.

  7. To save the configuration for later use, click Save.
  8. Click OK to start importing.
  9. Check the log file and click OK.
