Adapting smart symbols to finish specifications

You can configure the system to adapt smart symbols displayed in animation and sections to the floor or ceiling (finish specifications) assigned to a room. This can be set for every folder in the Library palette. Consequently, this setting applies to all the smart symbols in the relevant folder.

The following settings are available:

• Match
  When you place a smart symbol in a room with finishing specs, the Consider setting that was assigned to the smart symbol when you defined it is used.
• No (this is the default setting)
  Smart symbols do not adapt to finish specifications.
• Floor surface
  Every smart symbol in the folder adapts to the floor of a room when displayed in animated mode and in sections.
• Ceiling surface
  Every smart symbol in the folder adapts to the ceiling of a room when displayed in animated mode and in sections.

Configuring the program to adapt smart symbols to finishing surfaces has the following advantages:

• Normally, smart symbols are placed at the height set when you defined and saved the geometry of a smart symbol.
• As described above, you can configure the system to adapt smart symbols to the floor or ceiling (finish specifications) assigned to a room. You can make this setting when you define a smart symbol. You can also assign this setting to all smart symbols in a library folder later. For example, smart furniture symbols taken from a folder that adapts to the floor are displayed accordingly in animated mode and in sections. The same applies to ceiling lights that are taken from a folder that adapts to the ceiling.
• Make sure the library folders contain similar smart symbols, as associating smart window symbols with finishing surfaces would hardly be very useful.
• Smart symbols you have already placed (= instances) can be modified so that they adapt to finish specifications.
