Methods for placing fixtures

You can use the Methods for Placing Fixtures tool to place symbol fixtures along a polyline, which can even be a linear fixture itself. You can define parameters for this operation. The local x axis specified when you defined the symbol fixture always points in the direction of the path. In the case of wall fixtures, the plane defined by the local x and y axes coincides with the wall surface.

When you define the polyline across several precast elements, it is divided at the joints and the method specified is then applied to the individual sections of the polyline.

To place symbol fixtures along a polyline

1. Click Methods for Placing Fixtures (How) in the Fixtures module
   Or:
   Click Fixtures (How) in the Precast Slab or Precast Wall module and select Methods for Placing Fixtures on the context toolbar.
   

   Activate Fixtures in one of the following ways

   • Menu bar: Create Precast Factories Precast Floor/Precast Wall/Structural Precast Units

   • Palette: Tools Create area in the following module(s):

   Precast Floor

   Precast Wall

   Structural Precast Units

   

   Activate Methods for Placing Fixtures in one of the following ways

   • Menu bar: Create Bonus Tools Fixtures

   • Palette: Tools Create area in the following module(s):

   Fixtures

2. Define parameters.
3. Click OK to confirm the dialog box and use the polyline entry tools to enter a polyline.
   

Note: You can use the Replace Fixtures tool to replace the symbol fixtures you have already placed or the selected linear fixture with other Allplan fixtures, user-defined fixtures or manufacturer-specific fixtures.
