Replacing fixtures

You can use the Replace Fixtures tool to replace fixtures already placed with other fixtures of the same type, which can either be selected in the drawing file or in the relevant catalog.
You cannot replace manufacturer-specific fixtures with fixtures provided by different manufacturers or with Allplan fixtures or custom fixtures.

To replace fixtures

1. Click Replace Fixtures (How) in the Fixtures module
   Or:
   Click Fixtures (How) in the Precast Slab or Precast Wall module and select Replace Fixtures on the context toolbar.
   

   Activate Fixtures in one of the following ways

   • Menu bar: Create Precast Factories Precast Floor/Precast Wall/Structural Precast Units

   • Palette: Tools Create area in the following module(s):

   Precast Floor

   Precast Wall

   Structural Precast Units

   

   Activate Replace Fixtures in one of the following ways

   • Menu bar: Modify Bonus Tools Fixtures

   • Palette: Tools Modify area in the following module(s):

   Fixtures

2. There are different options for replacing fixtures:
   • Click Fixtures placed to replace all symbol, linear or surface fixtures within a selection window with another fixture of the same type, regardless of geometric properties and attributes.
     Check that all the fixtures you enclose in the selection rectangle are of the same type.
   • Click Smart fixture symbol to replace the selected symbol, linear or surface fixture as well as all the associated instances of this smart fixture symbol with another fixture of the same type, regardless of attributes.
     When you select symbol fixtures, the program ignores all attributes. When you select linear and surface fixtures, on the other hand, only the user-defined answers to the prompts are not taken into account.
   • Click Smart fixture symbol (identical) to replace the selected symbol, linear or surface fixture as well as all the other instances of this smart fixture symbol that have the same attributes with another fixture of the same type.
   • Click Group fixtures placed to replace all fixture groups within a selection window with another fixture group, regardless of geometric properties and attributes.
     Check that all the fixtures you enclose in the selection rectangle are of the same type.
   • Click Smart group fixture symbol to replace the selected fixture group as well as all the associated instances of this fixture group with another fixture group, regardless of attributes.
3. Open a selection rectangle or click the relevant smart fixture symbol.
4. Select the fixture which is to replace the selected fixtures in one of the following ways:
   • Click the fixture that is to replace the original fixtures. You can also click a selected fixture.
     This way, you can replace Allplan fixtures or user-defined fixtures with manufacturer-specific fixtures.
   • In the Input options, click Fixture catalog to open the relevant fixture catalog and to select a fixture.
     

     Which fixture catalog is used?

     The fixture catalog that is actually available to you depends on which types of fixtures you have selected. You cannot replace manufacturer-specific fixtures with fixtures provided by different manufacturers or with Allplan fixtures or user-defined fixtures.

     • When you have selected manufacturer-specific fixtures, the associated manufacturer catalog opens automatically.
     • When you have selected manufacturer-specific fixtures, Allplan fixtures and/or user-defined fixtures, the associated manufacturer catalog opens automatically.
     • When you have selected Allplan fixtures and there are no custom catalogs, Allplan’s fixture catalog opens automatically.
     • When you have selected Allplan fixtures or user-defined fixtures and there are custom catalogs, you can choose between Allplan’s fixture catalog and the custom catalogs.

     Note: When you have selected Allplan fixtures and/or user-defined fixtures which you want to replace with manufacturer-specific fixtures, you need to click the manufacturer-specific fixture directly in the drawing file.

     Note: You can replace fixtures in the current drawing file and in drawing files open in edit mode.

5. If necessary, change the answers and variables of the selected fixture.
