Smart Symbol Catalog

You can use this tool to open the Smart symbols library in the Library palette. Using the Smart symbols library, you can select smart symbols and place them in the workspace. You can create and delete folders. In addition, you can create, delete and copy individual smart symbols.

Smart Symbol

You can use this tool to define a smart symbol by giving it a name and assigning attributes. The smart symbol is saved in the office folder of the Smart symbols library.

Label Style

You can use this tool to create a label style. Besides text, a label style may include all kinds of design elements (e.g., lines, circles etc.). You can also associate label styles with attributes such as occupancy or floor area.

You can use this to label an instance of a smart symbol.

Reports

You can use this tool to generate reports of architectural elements, objects and 3D solids with architectural attributes. Reports can be sent to the printer and imported as PDF files.

Reports are used for analyzing data in Allplan. They are saved as templates in RDLC format.

Reports can be printed, placed as PDF files in documents and exported to Excel and other formats.
You can change the layout of reports and save the result as a new template.

Element Group

You can use this tool to group any 2D elements or specific architectural elements. You can then address this group as a single entity. As opposed to smart symbols, you can still modify the individual elements in the group using the shortcut menu, for example.

The following architectural elements can be included in element groups:

Modify Smart Symbol’s Attributes

You can use this tool to modify the attributes of a smart symbol. The modification applies to all the instances of the smart symbol placed in the active document. You can overwrite the original smart symbol with the modified smart symbol or you can save it under a different name.

You can use this tool to modify the attributes of an instance of a smart symbol.

You can use this tool to modify how smart symbols are displayed. The modification applies to all the instances of the smart symbol.

Link Smart Symbols

You can use this tool to link instances of smart symbols. You can group instances of smart symbols or link them in a structured chain. These can be instances of different smart symbols. You can also use this tool to unlink instances of smart symbols from a chain.

Replace Smart Symbol, SmartPart

You can use this to replace instances of smart symbols.

Unlink Smart Symbol

You can use this tool to explode instances of smart symbols into their basic entities. The design entities which make up the instance of the smart symbol can subsequently be modified on an individual basis.
Note: Only the visible foils in an instance of a smart symbol are unlinked.

Attach Geometric Elements to Instance of Smart Symbol

You can use this tool to add new elements to an existing instance of a smart symbol. This modification applies to just one instance of the smart symbol (as opposed to Modify Smart Symbol, which modifies all the instances of the smart symbol).
Note: The points of the appended elements can still be modified separately using Stretch Entities; the original smart symbol, however, can only be modified as a single entity.

Update Smart Symbols Placed from Library

You can use this tool to update all the instances of smart symbols in the active document based on the current definition of the smart symbol in the Smart symbols library. For example, you can update smart symbols in all the documents (provided you have modified the smart symbols using Modify Smart Symbol and saved them in the Smart symbols library).

Ungroup Elements

You can use this tool to ungroup elements which you have grouped beforehand using Group Elements.

Expand Element Group

You can use this tool to add elements to an existing element group without ungrouping it.

Update Labels

You can use this tool to update all labels in the drawing file.

Find Elements

You can use this tool to find architectural elements.

Replace Label Style

You can use this tool to replace one or more label styles of the same type with another label style.
Note: You can only replace label styles consisting of one foil or label styles whose foils can be selected together.
