Drawing files

Selecting drawing files currently loaded

When the button is pressed, the drawing files that are currently open, open in edit mode or open in reference mode are exported when you use the Export IFC Data function (display: The current fileset selection is used.).

If the button is not pressed, the drawing files selected via the Select drawing file dialog box (see Select button) are exported (display: TB numbers of the selected drawing files).

Select

Opens the Select drawing file dialog box, which you can use to configure a different drawing file selection for the export than the one you currently have when selecting the Export IFC Data function.

Important! Regardless of the selection type you choose, the drawing files intended to be exported must be assigned to a building structure.

Formatting option area

File type

Here you select the file type of the IFC file: IFC 2x3, IFC 4 or IFC 4.3.

Format

Here you select the format of the IFC file: .ifc or .ifcXML.

Model View Definition

You can define Model View Definition. <No View> is preset.

Coordinates and length parameters

Uni and resizing area

Unit

Allplan automatically imports the data using the source file's unit of length. For export, you can choose the unit for the destination file; meters is set by default. Discuss this with your data exchange partner.

Resizing factor

You can use this to enlarge (>1) or reduce (<1) coordinates and length values in the data being converted.

Move area

Element Filter

You can define the element or object types you wish to export. You can only select types that can generally be transferred to IFC.

Expand the required node and select the elements that you want to transfer. Ctrl+A selects or clears the selection of all elements including those in collapsed nodes.

Note: If a Allplan object (e.g. wall) assigned a different IFC object type (e.g. column), then the IFC export is filtered according to the IFC object type and not according to the Allplan object type.

Geometry

"Geometry conversion to IFC" area

Define the geometric model for IFC export.

Extruded geometry+ BREP geometry

Select this option to transfer 3D models as extruded geometries or BREPs (surface models).

Select the Support for freeform geometry option to transfer NURBS freeform geometry as complex models. Otherwise, NURBS freeform geometry will be transferred as polygons. Make sure that the recipient system can process NURBS.

Extruded + triangulated/ tesselated geometry

Select this option to transfer 3D models as extruded geometries or as triangulated or tesselated models.

BREP geometry

Select this option to transfer 3D models as BREPs (surface models).

Triangulated/ tesselated geometry

Select this option to transfer 3D models as triangulated or tesselated models.

Tessellated geometry area options

If the Triangulated / tessellated geometry option is enabled in the Geometry conversion to IFC area, you can specify the type of decomposition:

Triangulation

The 3D models are transferred as geometry broken down into triangles.

Polygonal surface tessellation

The 3D models are transferred as tiled geometry.

"Geometry" area

Use maximum precision for polygonization

Select this option to use maximum resolution to polygonize and transfer all components of models modeled freely (for example, objects delimited by curves or bridge models created with Allplan Bridge). The objects transferred are smoother, but the data volume is greater.

Transfer quantity data

Select this option to transfer BaseQuantities. BaseQuantities are dimensions and values calculated from the geometry of the model.
BaseQuantities of the following components will be considered: user-defined architectural elements, openings, windows, doors, railings, columns, and roofs.
Note: BaseQuantities for areas and volumes of openings will be transferred as positive values.

Number of decimal places

When you select the Transfer quantity data option, you can enter the number of decimal places that you want to use to transfer BaseQuantities. When the unit is meters (default setting), you need at least three decimal places (0.365 m) to correctly transfer a typical wall thickness of 36.5 cm.

Advanced options

Architecture

Combine smart opening symbols (IFC4 export only)

This option combines smart symbols in openings (for example, window, roller shutter housing, window sill) for transfer. This option is selected by default.

Note: When IFC exporting doors and windows, the PropertySet AllplanAttributes gets a suffix in brackets (for window macro or similar); this leads to difficulties in the analysis. Turn off the Combine smart opening symbols option if you do not want to create this suffix.

Explode door/window geometry

Select this option to transfer smart door symbols, smart window symbols, door SmartParts, and window SmartParts as discrete elements. Otherwise, they will be transferred as blocks (MappedRepresentation).

Split multilayer components...

Select this option to split and transfer multilayer components as individual components with one material each. Select the components that you want to split: Wall, Finish, and Roof.

Note: If you want to exclude a specific component from the general setting, that is to say, you do not want to split this component before export, use Modify Attributes to assign the Do not split in IFC attribute (IFC group) to this component. Make sure that the attribute is selected (default setting).

Suppress grouping

If you have chosen to split and transfer multilayer components as individual components, the program groups these components by using the IfcElementAssembly component group. Select this option to prevent grouping.

Engineering

IFC4-consistent reinforcement geometry

The reinforcement is described as a swept disc solid consisting of a circular disc for the bar cross-section and the path for extrusion. Select this option to transfer the path for extrusion as an indexed polycurve. Otherwise, the path will be transferred as a polyline.

Precast element area

Create formwork specific surfaces

If this option is activated, then a surface (ifcSurfaceFeature) is created on the smooth side, which makes it possible to determine the formwork side. This setting is required for the production of precast elements with IFC data (exchange case CAD to MES).

Create Chamfers/Roundings

If this option is activated, chamfers and round-off values are modeled in the precast element, provided that they have been set in the formwork attributes of the precast element.

Hand over reinforcement and fixtures Precast compliant

If this option is activated, reinforcement and fixtures that are linked to a precast element are also linked to the precast element in the IFC file, as defined in IFC4precast. This also results in meshes being output as ifcElementAssembly, which then collects the associated bars as IfcReinforcingBar in ElementAssembly. Furthermore, lattice girders are also output as ifcElementAssembly, and all fixtures and recesses are linked to the element.

If this option is deselected, the reinforcement and fixtures are output as defined in Allplan and attached directly to the drawing file. No output of lattice girders, the meshes become IfcReinforcingMesh.

Attribute mapping

"Attribute assignment" area

Shows existing attribute assignments. Clicking an attribute assignment marks it with . This then becomes the file for attribute assignment of relevance for the next export. If you double click (or press the Edit button) on Attribute assignment, you can then edit items in the Conversion direction Allplan to IFC dialog box (for IFC exports) or in the Direction of conversion IFC to Allplan dialog box (for IFC imports).

Use attribute assignments from office standard

When you select this option, you can select the attribute assignments from the office standard for transfer. You can select this option only if the office standard (...\STD\) contains a default file for attribute assignment named Standard_PropertyMap_Allplan_TO_Ifc.cfg (for export) or Standard_PropertyMap_Ifc_TO_Allplan.cfg (for import).

Transfer assigned attributes only

When you select this option, Allplan does not transfer the complete attribute set of a component but only the attributes that have been assigned additionally.

Find...

You can find attribute assignments.

New...

You can create a new attribute assignment. Enter the path and name of the new attribute assignment and confirm. You can then define your customized attribute assignment in the Conversion direction Allplan to IFC dialog box (for IFC exports) or in the Direction of conversion IFC to Allplan dialog box (for IFC imports).

Copy...

You can copy the current attribute assignment, which is marked with . Enter the path and name for the copied attribute assignment and confirm. You can then amend your copy in line with your own requirements in the Conversion direction Allplan to IFC dialog box (for IFC exports) or in the Direction of conversion IFC to Allplan dialog box (for IFC imports).

Remove

You can remove the selected attribute assignment from the list. The assignment file (.cfg) saved for the attribute assignment is not deleted. This means therefore that the attribute assignment can be restored to the selection list at any time by using Find.

Edit

You can open and edit the selected attribute assignment. You can then amend the attribute assignment in line with your own requirements in the Conversion direction Allplan to IFC dialog box (for IFC exports) or in the Direction of conversion IFC to Allplan dialog box (for IFC imports).
