Text anchor point

You can use this tool to set or move an anchor point for text and to delete existing anchors. Use this option when you want your text to be placed at a constant distance from a specific point in your drawing. Whenever you move the point, the text will move accordingly. You might use this tool to position text at a constant offset from the corner of a layout prior to printing.

To set an anchor point

1. Click Move Anchor Point (How).
   

   Activate Anchor Point in one of the following ways

   • Actionbar:Role Draft Task Label Task area Text

   • Menu bar: Change Text

   • Palette: Tools Change area in the following module(s):

   Text

2. Select the text to be given an anchor point.
   If the text already has an anchor point, it is displayed in construction line format.
   

   • To select a single element, click it.
   • To select elements in a selection rectangle, hold down the left mouse button and open a selection rectangle around the elements you want to select.
   • Some tools allow you to select all elements in the current document by clicking All in the input options or pressing CTRL+A.

   When selecting elements, you can use filters, which allow you to filter by element type or property. For more information, see Using filters.

3. Move it to its new position.
   

   • Click the point.
   • Align to points using the linear snap function and click the point.
   • Define the point by making entries in the dialog line.

   Tip: The shortcut menu and dialog line provide tools and options to assist you in the process of entering points. For more information, see Tools and Options.

To delete an anchor point

1. Click Move Anchor Point (How).
2. Click Delete in the input options.
3. Select the text whose anchor point you want to delete.

Note: Changing the reference scale does not alter the actual distance between the text and the anchor point.
