Rotating a 3D element about a fixed point in one direction

Tool(s): Rotate 3D Entities

To rotate a 3D element about a fixed point in one direction

  1. Click Rotate 3D Entities (How).
  2. Select the element you want to rotate (see 1. in the illustration).
  3. Select the fixed point about which you want to rotate the element (see 2. in the illustration).
  4. Select the first direction point for the rotation (base point for first direction; see 3. in the illustration).
  5. Select the second direction point for the rotation (target point for first direction; see 4. in the illustration).
  6. You want to rotate the element in one direction only. Therefore, click the same point twice to define the auxiliary direction points (see 5. and 6. in the illustration).

Note: The auxiliary direction points for the second direction of rotation must not be on the same line as the target direction point of the first direction of rotation. In this case, Allplan will not rotate the element. Instead, it will issue a message
