Automatic calculation of panel thickness configuration entry

Configuration(s): Half floor: entry

The required panel thickness is calculated from the concrete cover at the bottom specified during design, the total height of the reinforcement layers and the overlaps of the bars and lattice girders specified here. If either of these overlap values is zero, the program does not calculate the thickness for the respective element. If each of the two values is greater than zero, the program uses the greater value for calculations.

Taking into account the maximum diameter (diameter of basic reinforcement, diameter of reinforcement for trimming created automatically, diameter of assembly bars), the program determines the total height of the reinforcement layers in the 0° bar layer and the 90° bar layer. In addition, the program considers 90° bars and/or anchorage bars placed or moved downwards.
Secondary bars of free reinforcement and secondary bars that are added later to the reinforcement grid of the mesh ( Reinforcement in MWS Grid) are ignored.

Note: Lattice girders that are rotated before being placed (which is possible for attached reinforcement) have no effect on the automatic calculation of the panel thickness Therefore, the diameter of the bottom boom is always used for lattice girders.

'Free reinforcement' + 'Attached reinforcement' tabs

Use calculation of panel thickness:

When you select this check box (Yes), the program automatically calculates the panel thickness for half floors with free and/or attached reinforcement in accordance with the following definitions.

Round thickness
Rounding type:

Do not round: no rounding.

Round exactly: 1-4 = rounded down, 5-9 = rounded up

Round up: the panel thicknesses calculated are rounded up to the value specified for "Rounding value or fixed thicknesses".

Round down: the panel thicknesses calculated are rounded down to the value specified for "Rounding value or fixed thicknesses".

Fixed thicknesses: the panel thicknesses calculated are replaced with the next greatest value available in "Rounding value or fixed thicknesses". If the panel thickness is greater than the greatest value, it is changed to the greatest value available for fixed thicknesses. In this case, the program issues a warning.

Rounding value ...:

[cm] The panel thicknesses calculated are rounded to this value.
The minimum thickness is the same as the standard panel thickness (see Prompts configuration entry).

... or fixed thicknesses:

[cm] You can specify the fixed values for the possible panel thicknesses. Start with the minimum panel thickness and enter the values up to the maximum panel thickness in ascending order. Use semicolons to separate the thickness values. You can use a point or comma for the decimal separator.

Concrete cover for bars / lattice girders:

[cm] You can specify the concrete cover over the top bar or the longitudinal bars of the lattice girder up to the top level of the element. Enter zero if you do not want to calculate the thickness for the respective element.

Position of first / second mesh from reinforcement typePosition of first / second / third longit. bar from reinforcement typePosition of first / second cross bar from reinforcement type:

This setting is only available on the Free reinforcement tab.
For Attached reinforcement, the program analyzes the layer definition specified in the Configuration for attached reinforcement on the Reinforcement layer tab of the Basic slab reinforcement configuration entry.

None / 1 - 9: The layer specified for each reinforcement group in the reinforcement type catalog defines how reinforcement is placed on top of one another.
