Enter Line Load

Tool(s): Special Loads

You can use Enter Line Load to create line loads.

To create a line load

1. Click Special Loads (How).
   

   Activate Special Loads in one of the following ways

   • Menu bar: Create Precast Factories Precast Floor

   • Palette: Tools Create area in the following module(s):

   Precast Floor

2. Enable the required load case by clicking Define Load Case.
3. On the Special Loads Context toolbar click Enter Line Load.
4. In the Input options, click either DefPln (Abnormal Load in Default Plane) or Design (Abnormal Load on Design). If you select DefPln, you should then place the load on the top default plane. If you select Design, you should then place the load on the structure (e.g., on the sloping roof surface).
   Note:
   You can define default planes using the List Default Planes tool in the General: Roofs, Planes, Sections module (Architecture family).
5. On the Context toolbar, click Load at start of line and then Load at end of line. Enter the load in kN/m.
   

   End value for load in z direction

   This defines the end of the line load P in z direction.

   B Line load PZ

   Enter the value of the line load at the end point at the keyboard. If the load is applied downwards, then no sign needs to be entered.

   Tip:
   If the starting ordinate is changed, the end ordinate adjusts automatically. If a trapezoidal load has to be entered, this can be done by changing the end ordinate.

   This defines the start of the line load P in z direction.

   Enter the value of the line load at the start point at the keyboard. If the load is applied downwards, then no sign needs to be entered.

6. On the Line Load Context toolbar, click Perpendicular to roof or Vertical to roof to define the load direction of a wind load which acts as a line load on a roof surface.
   

   Load direction

   When a point load, line load or area load acts on a roof element, you can define the load direction of a wind load here.

7. You can also use Match to read and copy existing line loads.
8. Place the start and end points with the specified values at the desired positions.
9. Click Cancel to finish.
