Modifying section along curve

Module(s): Bridge and Civil Engineering

You can use the Modify Section Along Curve tool to modify a section you created with Section Along Curve. If the section is associative, it updates immediately to reflect any changes you make in the palette.

Note: This also applies to changes in the 3D model. Here, too, if the section is associative, it updates automatically without you having to select the modification tool. When you create new elements, however, the section will not update until you modify it.

To modify a section along a curve

  1. Click Modify Section Along Curve (How).
  2. Select the section by clicking its view border.

Note: You can also open the Section Along Curve palette by double-clicking the view border with the left mouse button or selecting Properties on the shortcut menu of the view border.

  3. The Section Along Curve palette opens. In the Filter area, change your definition as to what you want to display in the section and how you want to do this.
  4. In the Scale area, change the factor for Resize in longitudinal direction or the Scale factor.
  5. In the Clipping path area, click if you want to change the element for the clipping path.
  6. Change the Section identifier or click to delete it.
  7. If you want, you can change the Start and End of the clipping path.
  8. Click to switch the viewing direction.
  9. The selected elements do not necessarily have to define the top and bottom of the section. If you want to enter different values, clear the Height from elements check box and enter the values you want to use for the Top level and the Bottom level.
  10. If you do not want to display the clipping path in plan, select the Hide clipping path option. Otherwise, click the button to change how the clipping path looks.
  11. In the Section area, click the buttons to change the Representation, Formats and Label for the section.
  12. Press ESC to quit the tool.

Note: You can use Match parameters to match the parameters of a different section. You can use Save as a favorite to save the settings. With Load favorite, you can read the settings back into the palette, where you can then modify them.
