Shading SmartPart

Module(s): Basic: Walls, Openings, Components

Using Verschattung_16 Shading SmartPart, you can create SmartParts for shading elements (roller shutters, sliding shutters, folding shutters and blinds).

SmartParts are parametric Allplan CAD objects that act according to their own inherent logic, which is independent of the CAD system. Parametric information is controlled by a script, which is attached directly to the object.

You can insert the shading SmartPart in openings in linear walls. It adapts to any outline.

The SmartPart you are modeling is displayed in real time. You can save the finished SmartPart as an smv file using the Save as a favorite tool. You can also save the SmartPart to a folder of the Library palette.

Notes: In order to edit SmartParts, you can use handles (graphic modification) or a dialog box (alphanumeric modification). To modify SmartParts graphically, you can use the Modify SmartPart using Handles tool, which you can find on the shortcut menu of the SmartPart.
It is also possible to use the handles and dialog box in combination. Double-clicking the SmartPart with the left mouse button opens the properties palette of the SmartPart and displays the handles.
You can use Reports (Shading.rdlc, Roller shutters.rdlc) to analyze SmartParts for shading elements.

To model a shading SmartPart

  1. Click Verschattung_16 Shading SmartPart (How).

The Elements tab of a Shading SmartPart opens.

  2. Select the shading element you want to create in the list box at the top of the palette. The contents of the Elements tab change with the shading element you select.

You can now start modeling the Shading SmartPart.

  3. Detailed information on the settings that are available for the shading elements can be found here:
  4. To place the SmartPart, click an existing wall opening.
When you place a SmartPart for Roller shutters, it uses the reveal as a reference. If you have created the opening with a reveal, Allplan always places the SmartPart for Roller shutters in the middle of the reveal. It is irrelevant where you click the opening.
If there is no reveal, Allplan places the SmartPart for Roller shutters in such a way that it is centered in the wall layer clicked.
When you place a SmartPart for Sliding shutters or Folding shutters, the SmartPart uses the exterior edges of the wall as a reference. The SmartPart then rests on the wall (outside or inside).
When placing a SmartPart for Blinds, you can choose between the Opening and Window reference elements and specify the side (Inside or Outside). Detailed information is provided in jalousie_combo_smartpart_16 Blinds.

The input options provide a number of tools you can use to place the SmartPart.
You can specify an angle of rotation in the dialog line. The SmartPart is then placed at this angle.

When you place the SmartPart, an arrow appears in the middle of the SmartPart, indicating the outside of the SmartPart. Depending on the position of the SmartPart within the opening, you can see another symbol, indicating that the SmartPart will be mirrored. You can set the size and color of these symbols using the Size of CursorTips for snap points and Color of CursorTips options you can find in the Options (Default toolbar), Point snap page, Point snap representation area.
  5. Press ESC to finish.

A copy of the SmartPart you selected last is attached to the crosshairs.

  6. Place more SmartParts or press ESC to quit the tool.

Note: Double-click the SmartPart to modify it. You can use the palette or handles.
