Specifying data formats for contacts

Specifying the contacts to whom the current package is to be sent

Prior to sending you can specify the data formats of the layouts for each contact.

You can save the individual combinations of data formats in favorite files. This way, you do not need to define the formats for each contact or package from scratch each time.

Important!
When you have selected the PDF format, the program uses the current settings in the Format settings for ... dialog box. In other words, exporting data using Allplan Exchange overrides the settings for Export PDF Data!
When you have selected the Allplan layout format, on the other hand, the settings you have specified for the Print Layouts tool are retained and taken into account when you export data using Allplan Exchange.

To specify the data formats for a contact

• Allplan Exchange dialog box (How) is open.
  

  Activate the Allplan Exchange dialog box in one of the following ways

  • The Layout module is open.

  • Menu bar: Create Layout Allplan Exchange Layout Distribution

  • Toolbar: Basic Tools Layout flyout Allplan Exchange Layout Distribution
  • Palette: Tools Basic family Create area Allplan Exchange Layout Distribution

1. Click the Format button in the Contact column of the contact for whom you want to define the data formats for the current package.

   The Format settings for ... dialog box opens.

2. Select the relevant check boxes to specify the data formats you want to use for the layouts of the current package.
3. You can load one of the exchange favorites defined in Allplan, which are available for some data formats (PDF, DGN, DWG, DXF).

   To do this, click <no exchange favorite> or the name of the favorite already set and select the exchange favorite you want to use in the Open dialog box.

   Tip: To remove an exchange favorite set, click Remove exchange favorite.

4. You can set additional options for some data formats:
   • NID: with / without resources
   • DGN, DWG, DXF: select the version in the list box.
     
     Note: When you export data in DGN, DWG or DXF format, the layouts are compressed automatically to a ZIP file, as they can contain additional files such as bitmaps, XRefs and so on.
   • Bitmap: resolution, color depth, subtype and Q factor
5. Click OK.

To save the current format selection in a favorite file

• The Format settings for ... dialog box (How) is open
  

  Activate the Format Settings dialog box in one of the following ways

  • The Layout module is open.
  • Allplan Exchange dialog box (How) is open.

  • Menu bar: ---

  • Toolbar: ---
  • Palette: ---
  • Button: Format (Contact column)
  • Shortcut menu: ---

1. Click Save favorite at bottom left.

   The Save As dialog box appears.

2. Specify the folder where you want to save the favorite file.
3. Specify a meaningful File name for the favorite file.
4. Click Save.

To load the format selection from a favorite file

• Allplan Exchange dialog box (How) is open.

1. Click the Format button in the Contact column of the contact for whom you want to retrieve the format selection from a favorite file.

   The Format settings for ... dialog box opens.

2. Click Load favorite at bottom left.

   The Open dialog box appears.

3. Select the folder with the favorite file you want to retrieve.
4. Select the favorite file and click Open.

   The program loads the format definition saved in this file.
