Span reinforcement

You can use the Span Reinforcement tool to place several meshes within a placing polygon. Recesses can be taken into account. As the meshes are associated with the placing polygon, any changes you make to the geometric outline of the polygon or to the settings are reflected in the corresponding meshes.
If you have a special license for precast elements, you can use meshes from the Cross-Sections or MWS meshes

To place meshes by span

1. Click Span Reinforcement (How).
   

   Activate Span Reinforcement in one of the following ways

   • Menu bar: Create Engineering Mesh Reinforcement

   • Palette: Tools Create area in the following module(s):

   Mesh Reinforcement

   • Configuration: Engineering Mesh Entry and Placement flyout
2. Enter the outline polygon or click Match in the input options to use an existing outline.
   

   1. Click the first point of the outline polygon in the workspace.
   2. Click the second point of the outline polygon in the workspace.
   3. Click additional points if required.
   4. Close the polygon.

   With every point you enter you can change the support depth manually.

   Note: You cannot use an existing polygon in which MWS meshes have been placed.

3. If you are working in Reinforce with 3D model mode and you have not yet created any views, you must select the view so as to assign the basic spatial orientation and create a view.
   If views already exist, click one (the Old button is active in the input options) and continue working in it. However, you can also create a new view (the New button is active in the input options) and create a new reinforcement cage with this view.
4. Modify the outline polygon using the tools on the context toolbar and define the location of the placement in space so as to establish the relationship (offset) between the defined spatial plane and the placement (with Reinforce with 3D model only).
5. Click OK to confirm the settings.
6. Click Use Mesh Type and select the mesh type to be placed:
   

   All meshes defined in the Cross-Section Catalogs are available.

   You can use the Mesh Type button to select a defined mesh from the list box.

   • Click Mesh type to select a defined mesh type in the list or
   • Enter the mesh identifier manually or
   • Click Match to match the settings of a reinforcing steel mesh you have already placed.
7. When set to Use MWS Mesh, define the parameters by clicking MWS Settings or Copy.
   

   This setting places special meshes in the form of attached reinforcement. These MWS meshes are produced in special mesh welding plants.

   You can define the settings for attached reinforcement in the General area of the Configuration Menu.

8. Enter theparameters for the meshes on the Span Reinforcement Context toolbar.
9. Click OK to confirm. This places the meshes.
