MWS reinforcement group

Module(s): Precast Slab + Precast Wall + Structural Precast Elements

You can use the MWS Reinforcement Group tool to combine reinforcing bar placements in MWS reinforcement groups.

Right-clicking in the input area of the palette opens a shortcut menu where you can show and hide the description displayed at the bottom of the palette.
In addition, you can add the currently selected area or parameter to the quick input list and switch to QuickInput, which provides a reduced number of parameters. There you can remove the currently selected area or parameter from the quick input list and return to Advanced input by selecting this mode on the shortcut menu.

This section provides detailed information on the parameter currently selected. If there is not enough space to display the entire text, three dots at the end of the text indicate that some text is missing. You cannot scroll the description.

To enlarge the section so that you can read the full text, you can increase the width of the entire palette and/or move the line separating the parameter area from the description up.

To create an MWS reinforcement group

1. Click MWS Reinforcement Group (How).
   

   Activate MWS Reinforcement Group in one of the following ways

   • Menu bar: Modify Precast Precast Slab/Precast Wall/Structural Precast Elements

   • Palette: Tools Change area in the following module(s):

   Precast Slab

   Precast Wall

   Structural Precast Elements

2. Select the reinforcing bar placements you want to group.
   

   • To select a single element, click it.
   • To select elements in a region, use the left mouse button to open a selection rectangle around the elements you want to select
   • To include all the elements in the current document, click All in the Input options or press CTRL+A. Please note that this option is not available for all tools.

   For more information on the options available for selecting elements in Allplan, see Selecting elements, overview.

   When selecting elements, you can use the Filter Assistant to apply a filter based on element types and/or properties. For more information, see Filter Assistant.

   You cannot assign elements to different groups.

3. The MWS Reinforcement Group palette opens. Specify the name and number of the group and define the factory, height of the longitudinal bars and the number of pieces. The number of elements assigned to this group is displayed in the Group elements line.
4. Click a reference segment to specify the direction for the longitudinal bars and a basic segment for the straight or bent cross bars. You can also create bent longitudinal bars; however, only straight cross bars can be placed in the area with the bent, longitudinal bar segments.

   The program checks the conditions of the mesh welding system for the selected bars and combines them in an MWS reinforcement group.

5. To further edit the group, select a tool in the toolbox:
   

   You can find the toolbox above the tabs with the parameters. It contains the tools appropriate to the task at hand. These tools are always arranged on the left and they reflect the usual sequence in which you go along. They are followed by additional tools, which vary depending on the main tool selected.

   As soon as you select a new main tool, the current palette closes and a new palette opens. After this, it is usually necessary to select the objects again.
   The additional tools, on the other hand, always apply to an object you have already selected. A new palette is not opened.

   • You can use Add or delete bars to add more reinforcing bar placements to the group or remove placements from the group.
   • You can use Define direction of longitudinal bars to define the reference segment for the direction of the longitudinal bars and the basic segment for the cross bars.
   • You can use Define base segment to define the basic segment for the cross bars.
   • You can use Mesh welding system editor to edit the MWS reinforcement group. You can also change the height of the longitudinal bars by starting and closing the editor.
   • You can use Ungroup reinforcement group to ungroup the placements.
6. Press ESC to finish grouping.

   You can now create more MWS reinforcement groups or quit the tool.

Notes:

• You can use Save as a favorite to save the settings and Load favorite to read the settings back into the palette, where you can modify them. Click Favorite QuickSelect to select from the five favorites you have used most recently.
• A wide range of special settings are provided in the Configurations, General, Attached Reinforcement and in the NC generator, driver catalog in the Catalogs module.
