You can use the Elevation Point tool to place elevation points in a DTM.

What do you want to do?

Place elevation points individually

Place elevation points in a grid

Note: Elevation points can be filtered using Filter by DTM Element Type in the filter assistant.

Note: The settings made in Terrain Point are used for the elevation point.
