Using opening types

You can assign an opening type to each folder in the Library palette. All smart symbols in this folder are then given the type of opening you have assigned to this folder. The other library elements are not affected by this.

Opening types provide the following advantages:

• When you insert a smart symbol with an opening type in an existing opening, the smart symbol automatically adjusts itself to suit the size of the opening.
• When you insert a smart symbol with an opening type in an architectural element, the corresponding opening is created automatically and the smart symbol is inserted. In other words, you do not have to create an opening in advance. Approach: move the crosshairs across the workspace. As soon as the program detects an appropriate architectural element, the preview of the smart symbol turns red.
  Smart symbols of the Window or Door opening type can directly be inserted in walls; smart symbols of the Slab opening or Slab recess type in slabs and Skylights in roof coverings. You can define the height of the opening element by clicking Height in the Input options. Depending on the type of opening, several predefined settings are available.
