Drawing a railing

Tool(s): Railing

To draw a railing

  1. Click Railing.

The option to define a new railing or fence is active by default, which means that you can immediately start entering a path by clicking points.

  2. Specify the Division style by entering a value for Division or Offset.
  3. Click Railing properties.
  4. Specify the Railing style and click OK to confirm and/or
click Match railing style to match the style of an existing railing.

Tip: You do not need to click the base edge (path) when you select a railing. You can click any element of the railing.

Important: As long as you have not specified a railing style, only the base edge is drawn.

Tip: It is a good idea to use a simple railing that consists of one element per category. Otherwise, navigation with the mouse may be slower.

  5. Draw the railing by clicking the points of the path. These are usually the edges of the slab or the front edge of the steps. Check the railing's axis position, which you can reverse.
  6. If you want to create a new region with different division settings, click Close region to finish defining the region with the division style displayed. You can change the division style at any time until you click this icon.
  7. Press ESC to finish.
