How to convert bitmaps

Tool(s): Edit Bitmap

You can use the Edit Bitmap tool to convert bitmap files in any folder from any bitmap file format to any other bitmap file format. All the common formats are supported. You can also change the color depth. The names of the source and destination file can be up to 70 characters long.

To convert a bitmap file to a different format

1. Click Edit Bitmap (How).
   

   Activate Edit Bitmap in one of the following ways

   • Menu bar: Change Presentation Animation

   • Toolbar: Change
   • Palette: Tools Change area in the following module(s):

   Animation

   The Edit Bitmap window opens.

2. Click Open on the File menu.
3. Select the bitmap you want to convert.
   In the Open File dialog box, specify
   • the source path of the bitmap file (the current project's path is the default)
   • the file type of the bitmap file,
   • and the file name of the bitmap file.
   • File Details provides information on the file size, size in pixels and resolution of the selected bitmap file.

     When Preview is active, a preview of the bitmap is displayed.

4. Click Open.

   The selected bitmap file is displayed in the Edit Bitmap window.

   Tip: Allplan bitmaps such as render results are usually calculated using 16.7 million (24-bit color depth). To reduce the color depth, click Color Depth... (Color menu) and specify the value you need.

   

   Modifies the color depth of the open bitmap. You can enter any value between 32 bit and 1 bit.
   Moreover, you can select the color palette and calculation method.

5. On the File menu, click Save As....
6. In the Save File dialog box specify
   • the path to the destination file (the source path is the default)
   • the file type (destination format) of the destination file
   • and, if necessary, a new name for the file.
7. Click Save.

   The bitmap is saved in the new format.
