Replacing an individual instance of a smart symbol, SmartPart

Tool(s): Replace Smart Symbol, SmartPart

To replace a smart symbol or SmartPart with another smart symbol or SmartPart

1. Click Replace Smart Symbol, SmartPart (How) or Replace Smart Symbol, SmartPart (How).
   

   Activate Replace Smart Symbol, SmartPart in one of the following ways

   • Menu bar: Change Architecture Basic: Walls, Openings, Components

   • Palette: Tools Change area in the following module(s):

   Basic: Walls, Openings, Components

   • Configuration: Architecture Architectural Openings flyout
   

   Activate Replace Smart Symbol, SmartPart in one of the following ways

   • Menu bar: Change Bonus Tools Smart Symbols

   • Palette: Tools Change area in the following module(s):

   Smart Symbols

2. Deactivate the Add identical objects option in the Input Options.

   This replaces the selected smart symbol or SmartPart only.

   Note: Using the With label option in the Input Options, you can specify whether you want to replace labels, too. If you want to replace the label, select this option.

3. Select the smart symbol(s) or SmartPart(s) you want to replace.
   

   • To select a single element, click it.
   • To select elements in a region, use the left mouse button to open a selection rectangle around the elements you want to select
   • To include all the elements in the current document, click All in the Input options or press CTRL+A. Please note that this option is not available for all tools.

   When selecting elements, you can use the Filter Assistant to apply a filter based on element types and/or properties. For more information, see Filter Assistant.

4. Select the smart symbol or SmartPart which is to replace the existing instance in one of the following ways:
   • Click the smart symbol or SmartPart that is to replace the existing smart symbol(s) or SmartPart(s).
   • Click Smart Symbol in the Input Options to open the Library palette and to select a smart symbol or SmartPart.

     Note: You can only select SmartParts if there are SmartParts in the drawing file or if you saved SmartParts to the Library palette.

     Note: Allplan replaces the instances of smart symbols or SmartParts that are in the current drawing file and in drawing files open in edit mode.

     Note: The setting you define for Resize smart symbol affects the substitute smart symbol in the Replace Smart Symbol, SmartPart tool. If the original smart symbol was defined and placed with this option being selected, the substitute smart symbol behaves in the same way even if it was defined with this option being not selected.
