The parameters vary depending on the type of opening and the architectural element in which it is to be inserted.
Type
Use this to specify whether a recess or an opening is to be inserted in the slab.
Outline
Specify the outline of the opening in plan.
Note: Before you can select the Opening with an outline saved as a symbol type, you have to create the outline of an opening in plan view using the tools in the Draft module and save it as a symbol. The length and width of the opening are based on the maximum length and width of the symbol and cannot be changed.
Parameters
Depending on the type of opening you want to use, you can set the following parameters here:
Size
Depending on the type of opening you want to use, the following dimensions are available:
Top level = TL slab, Bottom level = BL slab (for slab recesses)
Height (for slab recesses)
Height setup (for slab recesses)
Click Height... to define the height of the opening. You can define the height as an absolute value. You can also associate the height of the element with default or custom reference planes or relative to other building elements.
Relative to TL, BL
The height setup is represented by icons. Click Height... to make changes.
Load favorite, Save as a favorite
Click to save recesses or openings defined as favorite files.
To retrieve a favorite file, click .
Library element
To insert a defined smart symbol, click and select the smart symbol in the Library palette.
Note: Smart window symbols created using Smart Window and Door Symbols (How) cannot be inserted in slab recesses and openings.
If the way in which openings are displayed does not suit you, you can create your own images in 2D and save them as smart symbols.
You can define smart 3D symbols and insert them in horizontal slabs using Smart Symbol (How). In the case of inclined slabs, it makes sense to use smart 2D symbols only as you cannot "tilt" smart 3D symbols.
