Define Tables
The definition of the table (Column X, Column Y, Transition) is done in the lower part of the Viewing window; in the upper part oft he window it is graphically presented.
Table
Status column
The narrow column on the left edge shows the status of a row.
(>)-symbol: Row is selected/marked
Pen-symbol Row is in editing mode
(+)-symbol in the last row: Add a new row
Column X
Definition of the station value on the axis (in ascending order)
Column Y
Definition of the associated ordinate value
Transition
Definition of the type of the curve for the connection to the next value (ordinate value of the next row). The selection is done in the drop-down menu:
- Free
The defined value remains constant till the next station
- Linear
Linear interpolation between the current and next value
- Parabolic (horizontal at begin)
The interpolation between the current and next value follows a parabolic curve with horizontal tangent at the current point (first point of the interval).
- Parabolic (horizontal at end)
The interpolation between the current and next value follows a parabolic curve with horizontal tangent at the next point (end of the interval).
- Parabolic (horizontal at both ends)
The interpolation between the current and next value follows a parabolic curve with horizontal tangents at both ends (first point and last point of the interval).
- Spline
The interpolation between the current and next value follows a cubic spline. Thereby, the section before the defined point or rather the section after the next point determines the direction (tangent) for the curve in these points. If the first point of a table is defined as spline, the direction in this point is set to “free”. If several consecutive points are defined as spline, the curve is calculated considering all these points.
Note: There is the option Linearized variation in the property window of the created structural members which always connects all values linearly, independent of the defined transition. See the calculation option Skip intermediate stations for further details to this.
Hints for editing the table
- Add rows
- For adding a new line at the end of the table click in the View window of the table on the symbol (+) in the first column of the last row.
- Navigate/Edit with the mouse
- Double-click on a certain input field to attain the editing mode and edit the value in the field.
- Click on a certain input field and edit it directly by entering the value (the editing mode is automatically activated; any existing value in the field will be overwritten).
- Click directly on further fields to edit the content. It is not required to confirm the input with the enter key.
- Navigate/Edit with the keyboard
- Use the arrow key for navigating with the cursor to the right position.
- Use the enter key for moving the cursor in the same column downwards into the next line.
- Use the tab key to move the cursor in the same line into the next column (or to move from the last column of a line into the first column of the next line).
- Edit the selected field (cursor position) directly by entering the value (the editing mode is automatically activated; any existing value in the field will be overwritten). Alternatively, you may use the key F2 for activating the edit mode without overwriting (insert mode).
- Navigate directly to further fields for editing their content. It is not required to confirm the input with the enter key.
- Mark a row
- Mark a row by clicking on the field in the status column (narrow column at the left edge) or another field in the row (alternatively, select with the arrow keys).
- Mark several rows
- Mark the first row by clicking on the field in the status column (narrow column at the left edge) or another field in the row (alternatively, select with the arrow keys).
- Keep the shift key pressed and click on the status column or another field of the last row of the range to be marked.
- Insert lines
- Mark the line where a new line should be inserted before.
- Open the context menu (right mouse click) and choose the option Insert line. Alternatively, you may use Ctrl+OemPlus
- Note: The arithmetic mean between the stations of the upper and lower lines is taken as default value for the station X of the new line. The ordinate value Y and transition code Transition are taken over from the marked line.
- Delete lines
- Mark the lines which should be deleted.
- Open the context menu (right mouse click) and choose the option Delete line(s). Alternatively, you may use Ctrl+OemMinus.
- Copy/overwrite lines
- Mark one line or several lines.
- Copy them with Ctrl+C into the paste buffer.
- Mark the lines which should be overwritten, or the first line of the range to be overwritten.
- Paste the copied line(s) with Ctrl+V at this position.
- Copy/overwrite lines from other tables
- Copy lines from other tables into the paste buffer and insert them at the required position as described above.
- Copy/overwrite lines from external tables
- Copy lines from other tables of other programs like Excel or Word into the paste buffer and insert them at the required position as described above.
- Cut/Copy/Insert entries
- To attain the editing mode, double click on the field where from you want to cut or copy the content.
- Accept the marking of the total entry or mark the desired range of the entry to be overwritten.
- Open the context menu (right mouse click) above the marked entry and select the required option Cut or Copy. Alternatively, you may use Ctrl+X or Ctrl+C respectively.
- To attain the editing mode, double click on the field where to you want to copy the content.
- Accept the marking of the total entry or mark the desired range of the entry to be overwritten.
- Open the context menu (right mouse click) above the marked entry and select the option Insert. Alternatively, you may use Ctrl+V.
