Create a template of a structural member of the type “prism”

See Template for general information about this.

Regarding the definition of the prism template, the same explanations analogously apply as given in Prism.

When interactively defining a prism template, the start position (GP1) is automatically generated at a fictitious point of origin. Based on that, the definition of the prism axis (end position, GP2) is performed in positive local/global x-direction by the length of the prism relative to GP1.

To create a template for a prism

  1. Select Prism from the list of the templates.
  2. Optionally, edit the name and the description and confirm the input with OK.

A new prism template [T] is created in the menu Bodies in the project navigation tree.

  3. Select the cross section which you want to assign to the prism by clicking it in the menu Cross Sections in the navigation tree or via the drop-down menu in the Property window.
  4. Move the mouse in horizontal direction to the right in the View window to specify the desired length in positive local/global x-direction related to the predefined start position (GP1) on the axis to define the position of the end position (GP2) of the prism. Confirm it with a mouse click.

You can edit the inputted data as well as the variables in the Property window. You can also respectively modify the prism by its sliders by means of the context menu in the 3D View window.
