Pier

Create a structural member of the type “pier” on the basis of a respective existing template (see Template / Pier)

You can create an arbitrary number of piers from one particular pier template at different positions which are all linked to the same template.

To create a new pier from a template

Select the tool Pier from template.
Note: You can also directly drag & drop the wished pier template from the project navigation tree into the view window.
Optionally, edit the name and the description in the opening input window.
Select the pier template from the drop-down menu in the same window from which you want to create the pier, and confirm the input with OK.
A new pier is created in the menu Piers in the project navigation tree.

The pier is now also displayed at the cursor position in the view window of the 3D model.
Define the desired point of origin (Geometric Position 1) of the pier axis in the 3D model in the View window.
Note: Select the wished type of definition (Reference point / Relative distance / Absolute height) in the Property window - see note at the end of this input description.
Define the desired Geometric Position 2 (reference length) of the pier axis in the 3D model in the View window.
Note: Select the wished type of definition (Reference point / Relative distance / Absolute height / From template) in the Property window - see note at the end of this input description.

Note regarding the types of definition:

Reference point: The Geometric Position 1 is directly placed at a reference point, the Geometric Position 2 at the height of the selected reference point.
Relative distance / Absolute height: The Geometric Positions are defined related to a station on an axis in a certain vertical distance or as an absolute height through this point. Compare for example to: Pier relative to two axes
From the template: The definition of the Geometric Position 2 is taken from the pier template.
Note: The stations are always taken from the template - see Template for further information to this.
