Activate concrete elements (add the elements to the active structural system)

The calculation task INSTCONC is not available via the user interface, it is called up by the tasks CONCRETE and HARDEN, respectively, or the task INSTCONC and is automatically performed in the background.

The information taken from the construction phase for these two tasks is the start day and the duration.

From this the age of the concrete at activation (initial stressing) is evaluated, which influences the creep behavior (duration of CONCRETE and POUR + HARDEN, respectively).

I.e. the creep calculation of each element starts at the time of its activation considering the concrete age at this time (duration between pouring and initial stressing).

Per default the calculation of shrinkage is considered right from the start day (pouring) (i.e. start day of CONCRETE or POUR + HARDEN), i.e. concrete age at the beginning of shrinkage = 0.

Alternatively, a different time for the beginning of shrinkage can be defined for the two tasks CONCRETE and HARDEN in the Property window by the argument Dshrink (concrete age at the beginning of shrinkage), i.e. the offset from the start day of CONCRETE or POUR + HARDEN).

Usage of the task INSTCONC for precast girders (type link girders)

If a structural member of the type link girder is assigned to the assembly within the task INSTCONC, additional options are available for the usage as precast girder in the Properties window of the assembly. There you can choose the precast template defined in the Constructions and define a name for the construction of the submodel of the precast girder which is then created in the menu Constructions under the menu item Precast. Further, all variables defined in the precast template are listed in another menu item in the Properties window and their values can be edited there. These variables also appear synchronously in the Properties window of the construction of the submodel under the menu item Precast and can there be edited as well.

By assigning the precast template, the precast girder created by the task INSTCONC receives the construction defined via the precast template as its “history” at the time of its installation (=mounting) on the global time axis in the main construction. The Start Day of the task INSTCONC (the Duration in this case must always be zero) defines the time of the installation (mounting) (for details see Precast template). Due to the variables defined in the template, the same template can be used for different precast girders to be installed by adjusting their variables respectively.
