Avi movie
Name
Name and folder of the AVI file; if you have chosen to save the individual images (see Keep images), you can also find them in this folder. The program adds the name specified as a suffix.
Tip: If you want to run a movie without recording it, leave the Name box empty.
Compression
Click this button to open the Video compression dialog box. There you can specify whether you want to save the movie in uncompressed format or in compressed format using a compression method installed on your computer.
To save space or reduce the file size, select a suitable compression method. But if you want to produce images of highest quality, do not select a compression method.
Keep images
In addition to the AVI movie, the program saves all images calculated (see Number of images) to the folder you selected when you entered the Name.
Settings
Calculation
Select the type of rendering method you want to use for the movie image.
With the exception of the RT_Render render method, the same render methods are available as for the definition of the view types. The settings selected for the respective rendering method in the associated predefined view type (not in a user-defined view type) are used as parameters (see view type palette).
If you want to record a movie from rendered images, a separate rendering method Render is available. The parameters for this render method are defined independently of the settings specified for the RT_Render view type (see Render Options).
Rendering options
Only if you have selected the render method Render under Calculation.
Click Edit to open the Rendering options palette, where you can define the renderer, the rendering mode and additional parameters for rendering.
Target value:
You can specify the resolution of the rendered image in the Render size palette.
Total time in seconds
Total running time of the movie in seconds.
Images/second
Specify how many images are calculated per second. The aim is to produce a movie that will run as smoothly as possible. If you change the setting for the number of images per second, the total number of images changes accordingly and thus the required hard-drive space too.
Tip: As a rule, 15 images per second are sufficient for AVI movies.
Path, speed
Here you can use the Timeline dialog box to specify time intervals for the sections of the camera path that lie between the individual camera positions; in this way, you simultaneously control the running speed of the movie between the individual camera positions.
You can specify the total recording time or the total time of the movie or have the program calculate it from the time intervals.
Render
Number of images
You can see how many images are calculated for the movie. If you want to change this value, change the Total time in seconds or Images/second parameter.
