Import a role

Starting Actionbar Configurator

To import roles

• Actionbar roles are available as files in *.actb or Actionbar_*.xml format.

1. Click Actionbar Configurator on the right side of the Actionbar.

   The Actionbar Configuration dialog box opens; you can see the Configure tab.

2. Switch to the Manage roles tab.
3. Open the drop-down list of the Open file button (below the Import roles area). You can choose between the following options:
   • Open file
     
     and
   • Overwrite configuration file
4. Either option opens the Import Actionbar dialog box, where you can select the folder with the file to be imported.
5. Select the required file and click Open.
6. The following steps vary depending on the option you selected:
   
   When you selected Open file, you can see the contents of the imported file in the Import roles area on the Manage roles tab of Actionbar Configurator. The imported file can contain one or more roles. When you select a role by clicking it, you can see its contents in the Preview.
   You can see the path of the imported file to the left of the Open file button.
7. So that the imported roles are available to you on the Actionbar after you have closed Actionbar Configurator, you must drag the roles from the Import roles area into the My roles area.
8. When dragging the roles, you can see a dialog box in which you can decide to
   • Import the fixed (gray) areas (and thus overwrite the fixed task areas in the existing roles).

     Or

   • Keep the fixed (gray) task areas in the existing roles and apply them to the imported roles (and thus overwrite the fixed task areas in the imported roles).

     ATTENTION: The setting you select always applies to ALL roles in Actionbar Configurator!

     Note: Using the drag-and-drop feature, you can change the sequence of the roles in the My roles area.

     Tip: If you want to modify the imported roles, switch to the Configure tab and select the role you want to change in the My roles area. You can now modify the role; for example, you can change task areas, tools or flyout menus.

9. When you selected Overwrite configuration file, you can see a warning after having selected the file to be imported.
   Click Yes to overwrite the configuration file. You can see the contents of the new configuration file in the My roles area.
   Click No to cancel the operation. If you want, you can save your roles by exporting them.
10. To close Actionbar Configurator, click the Save button in the lower-right area of the dialog box.

    Without prompting you, Allplan saves all roles in Actionbar Configurator as a configuration.actb file in the \Usr\Local\Actionbar folder.
    Actionbar Configurator closes automatically. You are back in Allplan.
    You can now select the saved roles in the drop-down list (on the left side of the Actionbar).
