Using filters
Filter By Archit. Element Type (How) helps you select architectural elements in an area you define. You can select this filter after you have opened a modification tool.
You can use this tool filter elements by component category. You can select the properties you want to use for filtering.
You can filter based on the following criteria (or combinations thereof):
- Component area
Select one or more architectural elements as filter criteria.
You can only choose components that are actually available in the document.Note: Vertical surfaces, ceilings, floors and baseboard defined using the
Room tool, Finish tab, are part of the room and cannot be selected, filtered and found by clicking or enclosing them in a selection rectangle. To select all surfaces, click All in the input options.
- Thickness area
Enter the thickness you want to use as the filter criterion. The program finds all components of which the thickness or total thickness matches the value set, for example, all single-layer and multilayer walls of the (total) thickness set.Note:
Change Archit. Properties is an exception. Using Thickness, you can find the individual layers of a multilayer wall.
- Object name area
Enter or select object names as filter criteria. This way, you can find parent elements. - Click the Object name button to enter or select object names on a drop-down menu, which is also used for assigning object names. The program adds the selected object names to the Object name area, where you can select them.
- Material / Code text area
Depending on the option selected, you can enter or select materials or code texts (IBD attribute) you want to use as filter criteria. Material is selected by default. The materials that are presented for selection depend on the setting for Material selection. - Click the Material button to choose materials in the catalog you set by clicking the Catalog... button. The program adds the selected materials to the Material / Code text area, where you can select them.
- Click the Catalog... button to switch between a drop-down menu and the catalogs.
- Click Expand >> to define detailed selection criteria.
- Click
Save as a favorite to save the current filter setting as a favorite file.
Click
Load favorite to retrieve saved favorite files.
