Introduction to visualization

Tool

Use

Surroundings

You can use this tool to define natural lighting conditions (location, season, position of north, position of sun and so on) for the 3D model. These definitions control how shadows will be cast in rendered bitmap images and in viewports of the Animation and RT Render types.

Assign Custom Surfaces to 3D, Archit. Elements

You can use this tool to assign custom surfaces to 3D surfaces, 3D solids and architectural elements using drag-and-drop operations.
Custom surfaces are visible in viewports of the Animation view type and in rendered images.

Set Surface

You can use this tool to simulate materials by assigning surface properties (incl. luster, reflection and transparency) to each line color and pen color.
These settings will be considered by the Animation and RTRender view types and the Render and Record Movie tools. In addition, you can save these settings as favorite files.

Render

You can use this tool to calculate photo-realistic bitmap images from the current view of your 3D model. The program takes the lighting and surface properties set into account.

Set Project Light

You can use this tool to set artificial light sources for your 3D model. These light sources can be both inside and outside the model. When it comes to defining the types of light, you can choose between point light, spotlight, conical light or area light. You can combine these light sources as you need, even with natural lighting defined using Surroundings.

Luminaire

You can use this tool to create objects like lamps, streetlights and so on as 3D smart symbols with lights.
A smart luminaire symbol can have any number of lights, which are saved together with the smart symbol. The lights that are on are displayed in animation.

Modify Luminaire

You can use this tool to modify the lights of smart luminaire symbols. For example, you can turn the lights on or off, and change their color.
