Roofscapes in plane models

Roof frames and custom pairs of reference planes only have an effect on components associated with the reference planes when the planes and the components are in the same drawing file.

If you do not use a building structure, you may need to copy roof frames manually to other drawing files.

This is simplified by the building structure: You design a roofscape consisting of roof frames and custom planes in a drawing file or document. Then, you integrate the roofscape in the plane model and thus in the building structure.

You can then use Assign planes in the Building Structure dialog box to create the roofscape again in all the drawing files in which it is required - after this, the original document is no longer associated with the new roofscape created in the drawing file(s).

Tip: As an alternative, you can also use Insert or replace roofscape in the Planes palette to add a roofscape in the current drawing file to the plane model.

This new roofscape is automatically given the PLM_ROOFSC Roofscape layer from the Allplan Internal hierarchy. You can only show and hide this layer, but you cannot modify it. This ensures that a roofscape added to a plane model cannot be changed inadvertently. For editing purposes, you can use Isolate planes from plane model on the shortcut menu.

After you have made changes, you can replace the existing roofscape with the new one in all the drawing files in a single operation.
