Architecture, U-D element to 3D solids

Tool(s): Copy, Convert Elements Across Drawing Files

You can use this tool to copy any elements to a different drawing file, while converting the architectural elements and user-defined architectural elements to 3D solids. The main architecture-specific properties are retained in the process.

Note: As opposed to Convert Elements, all selected elements are copied to a different drawing file before they are converted. Another difference is that only appropriate elements are converted.

To convert architectural elements to 3D solids

1. Click Copy, Convert Elements Across Drawing Files (How).
   

   Activate Copy, Convert Elements Across Drawing Files in one of the following ways

   • Actionbar:Change task area

   • Menu bar: Create Architecture General: Roofs, Planes, Sections

   • Palette: Tools Create area in the following module(s):

   General: Roofs, Planes, Sections

   3D Modeling

   Bridge and Civil Engineering

   Basic: Walls, Openings, Components

   Special: Walls, Openings, Components

   Stairs

2. Select Architecture, U-D Element to 3D solids in the dialog box.
3. The Select File dialog box opens. Select the drawing file to which you want to copy the elements.
4. Select all the elements you want to copy and convert.
   

   • To select a single element, click it.
   • To select elements in a selection rectangle, hold down the left mouse button and open a selection rectangle around the elements you want to select.
   • Some tools allow you to select all elements in the current document by clicking All in the input options or pressing CTRL+A.

   When selecting elements, you can use filters, which allow you to filter by element type or property. For more information, see Using filters.

   Allplan immediately copies all selected elements to the selected drawing file, converting the architectural elements and user-defined architectural elements to 3D solids.

   Note: When you convert architectural elements to 3D solids, the main architecture-specific properties are retained.

   Note: In the case of multi-layer walls, each layer becomes a separate 3D solid.
