Importing quantities data

You can use the Import Quantities Data tool to re-import quantities data you have exported to and edited in external programs such as Allplan BCM or Microsoft Excel using Export Quantities Data. The modified data are available in xac format. Allplan automatically updates any changes made in the external program.

Note: The first column of the file you want to import must include the Allright component ID; do not change this column.

Note: When you export an *.xac file from Allplan to Microsoft Excel, change it there and then import it back into Allplan, you need to save it in *.xac format in Excel. Alternatively, save the file in *.txt format (tab-separated) then rename it *.xac.
Saving the Excel file in a binary format (*.xls or *.xlsx, for example) may cause the formatting of the table to change.

Important notes on editing XAC files

To import quantities data

1. Select the project with the quantities data you want to import.
2. Click Import Quantities Data (How).
   

   Activate Import Quantities Data in one of the following ways

   • Actionbar:Role Draft Task Teamwork Task area Import

   • Menu bar: File Import

   • Toolbar: Quick Access Allplan icon Import
3. Select the path and file in the Import Quantities Data... dialog box and click Open.
   The default name of the file is preset.

   Note: Select the With comparison dialog option to select the attribute values you want to import in the Import attribute values dialog box. However, the dialog box can take some time to open, in particular with large projects.

   Allplan imports the data, automatically updating all elements that have changed.
