Grouping instances of smart symbols

Tool(s): Link Smart Symbols

When you group instances of smart symbols, they are linked in a non-hierarchical manner and can be modified and edited as a single entity (e.g., moved or copied). The group is assigned the name you enter here.

To group instances of smart symbols

1. Click Link Smart Symbols (How).
   

   Activate Link Smart Symbols in one of the following ways

   • Menu bar: Modify Bonus Tools Smart Symbols

   • Palette: Tools Modify area in the following module(s):

   Smart Symbols

2. In the Input Options, click the Group box, enter a name for the group and press ENTER to confirm:
3. Select the smart symbol instances you want to group.
   

   • To select a single element, click it.
   • To select elements in a region, use the left mouse button to open a selection rectangle around the elements you want to select
   • To include all the elements in the current document, click All in the Input options or press CTRL+A. Please note that this option is not available for all tools.

   When selecting elements, you can use the Filter Assistant to apply a filter based on element types and/or properties. For more information, see Filter Assistant.
