Rotation of cross-section

To take transverse slopes into account, you can rotate the entire cross-section about any rotation point by the Rotation angle specified. You do not need to convert the individual points of the cross-section. Positive angles result in a counter-clockwise rotation.

There are three ways of defining the rotation point in a cross-section:

• The rotation point is on any polygon point of the cross-section.
• The rotation point is the same as the reference point or it is placed at an offset of dx and dy to the reference point.
• The rotation point is anywhere in the cross-section. In addition, you can select one of the nine options in relation to the min-max box of the cross-section and enter dx and dy.

If the Position of rotation point applies to all station points option is enabled, the position of the rotation point applies to the entire route; otherwise, the position of the rotation point can differ from station point to station point. In this case, the stationing is used to linearly interpolate the position of station points in-between (for which a cross-section has not been defined). You have to define the rotation angle for each cross-section separately.

Note: The position of the reference point is always based on the ‘unrotated’ cross-section; in other words, the reference point is not rotated about the rotation point. You can use the General Properties on the Edit menu to show/hide the rotation point in the graphics area.
