Dimensioning configuration entry

Configuration(s): edit element

'Dimension line' tab

You can specify individual dimension line parameters, which can normally be adjusted when you create dimensions in Allplan.

Fixed pen for dim. line:

Enable this check box if you wish to create dimension lines with the pen you select here.

If you clear this check box, the current settings on the Format toolbar are used.

Fixed line for dim. line:

Enable this check box if you wish to create dimension lines with the linetype you select here.

If you clear this check box, the current settings on the Format toolbar are used.

Dim. line display:

You can choose to show or hide dimension lines here.

Size of arrowhead:

You can set the size of arrowheads here.

The size of the arrowhead changes associatively with the size of the dimension line delimiter.

A Dimension line
B 3 mm

Arrowhead:

You can select an arrowhead here.

Dimension group as additional text:

When this option is enabled, icons identifying dimensioned elements are added to the individual dimension lines.

'Dimension Text' tab

You can specify individual dimension text parameters, which can normally be adjusted when you create dimensions in Allplan.

Dim. text height / width:

The dimension text height/width defines the real template size of dimension text.

For example, a number with a height value of 3.5 is always plotted out at a height of 3.5 mm, regardless of the reference scale you have selected.

Dim. text offset:

This setting governs the distance between the dimension text and its dimension lines.

Enter the offset in mm (you can enter positive and negative values).

A Positive offset
B Negative offset

Dim. text position:

Position of the dimension text within the dimension line.

Dim. text unit:

You can set the unit of dimensioning here.

Round-off value:

The dimension figure computed by the system only appears rounded-off on-screen. Internal computations, however, continue to use the figure's original value.

Example:

Round-off value 5 0.1137m -> 0.115m

Round-off value 10 0.2384m -> 0.24m

Decimal places:

Enter the number of decimal places here.

Trailing zeroes:

Enter the number of trailing zeroes used to pad out empty decimal places.

Example:

The value 1.01 with:

4 decimal places, 4 trailing zeroes will display as 1.0100

4 decimal places, 2 trailing zeroes will display as 1.01

Exponent-style numeric format:

You can toggle the exponent-style numeric format on/off.

This option is only available when Dim. text unit is set to m, cm.

'Dimensioning 1' tab

Offset between dimension strings [mm]:

This defines the spacing between several dimension lines. The offset is entered as a factor and relates to the dimension text height set with Dim. text height.

Maximum number of dimension strings bottom/top/left/right:

Specifies the maximum number of dimension strings that are to be created by the program automatically.

Arc dimensioning:

As discrete lines: arc shaped panels forming part of a panel polygon must always be divided into discrete lengths. This setting dimensions the partial lengths on the dimension string.

As genuine arcs: the program considers the polygonal shape as a circle and dimensions the center (with a radius arrow).

If the center of arc is beyond panel edge, then measure as discrete lines:

Check box enabled: if the arc center is outside the panel, then the arc segments are dimensioned (on the dimension string).

Check box disabled: the program always considers the polygonal shape as a circle and dimensions the center (with a radius arrow).

Allowable edge offset of center:

Limit value for the arc center outside the panel in order for the arcs still to be dimensioned.

'Dimensioning 2' tab

Enable the check boxes of the elements you wish to include in automatic dimensioning. Only visible elements are dimensioned.
