Replacing symbols in the library palette
Symbols
You can replace an existing symbol and save new design entities and texts. The symbol name does not change.
To replace a symbol in the library
- All the elements that are to make up the symbol are in the workspace.
- Open the Library palette.
If you want to see only symbols, click
Filter and hide Smart symbols and SmartParts. - Navigate to the symbol you want to replace.
Tip: You can use
Find to find library elements in the current folder and all subordinate folders.
Note: You cannot replace symbols in the Default folder.
- At the bottom of the palette, point to
Insert element and click
Insert symbol. - the elements that are to replace the symbol.
- Specify the reference point.
This is the point at which the symbol is attached to the crosshairs when you are placing it in the workspace.
- Specify whether you want to save the symbol as an intelligent symbol with Snoop functionality or as a dumb symbol without Snoop functionality. For more information, see intelligent (smart) symbols.
- To define an intelligent symbol, enter the reference line and define the offset to this line.
- To specify the name of the symbol file, enter the name of the symbol you want to replace and click OK to confirm.
- Allplan asks whether you want to replace this file. Click Yes.
Allplan saves the new symbol as a SYM file, replacing the old symbol.
